At the Birch Bay Chamber, we believe strong communities are built by informed, engaged leaders. That’s why we’re proud to share that all three Birch Bay Chamber staff members have participated in Leadership Whatcom, and each of us found it to be an incredibly rewarding and eye-opening experience.
Leadership Whatcom offers a deep dive into the systems, challenges, and opportunities that shape Whatcom County. From local government and public safety to economic development and community health, the program provides meaningful access to leaders and behind-the-scenes perspectives you simply can’t get anywhere else.
There are a few important dates coming up:
- Community Conversation – April 17th: A chance to engage in thoughtful dialogue on key issues impacting our region.
- Graduation – May 15: We’re especially excited to share that our very own Visitor Center team member, Mary Jane Thompson, will be graduating with this year’s cohort!
- Registration Now Open for the Next Cohort: If you’ve ever considered applying, now is the time.
- Early registration ends June 15
- Final registration deadline is September 4
We strongly encourage anyone interested in growing their leadership skills, expanding their network, and deepening their understanding of Whatcom County to look into this program.
If you’d like to hear more about our personal experiences, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us individually. We’re happy to share what we gained from the program and why we think it’s such a valuable opportunity.
