The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce has put together some extra, family friendly activities for you to do for Labor Day to end this crazy summer!

Friday night join us for a double feature at the Birch Bay Drive in at the Waterslides! We will be showing Grease and American Graffiti!

Saturday we are hosting a FREE Golf Cart & Bicycle Poker Run along Birch Bay Drive. We will have prizes for the top hands.

National Night Out – Safety Parade

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021

What is National Night Out?

National Night Out focuses on community and raising awareness through camaraderie. By improving area relationships, the hope is to make our neighborhoods safer. Shining a spotlight on community police programs, National Night Out increases connections between those who serve and their neighborhoods.

You might remember the event we held in 2019 the Birch Bay Beach Park field. This family friendly event featured fire trucks from North Whatcom Fire & Rescue, BP, Phillips 66, police vehicles from Whatcom County Sheriff & Blaine Police Department, as well as a variety of vehicles from Search & Rescue and Boarder Patrol.

In 2020 to help control the spread of COVID-19 we took some of these vehicles on a safe, socially distanced parade through the neighborhoods in Birch Bay. It was a great night to BBQ on your front porch wave to your neighbors & watch the parade come through your neighborhood with lights flashing and sirens blaring!

In 2021 we are looking to bringing a combination of these two events to Birch Bay for you to enjoy.

Whatcom County Trip-or-Treat

Join the Chambers of Commerce in Whatcom County on a collaborative effort to bring a family fun, safe alternative event to our community for this year’s Halloween. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 many of the communities in our area have had to cancel their Downtown Trick-or-Treat events.

Whatcom Trip-or-Treat is a socially distanced Trick-or-Treat experience that will take participants on a road “TRIP” throughout Whatcom County! In Birch Bay, Bellingham, Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden & Mount Baker you will find a few “treat stops” where families can remain in their cars and drive through to receive pre-bagged candy from a safe distance following a specific COVID-19 protocol.

Looking for more ways to join in the fun? Post your best costume picture to our FACEBOOK EVENT with the hashtags, #triportreat2020 #whatcomcostumecontest #whatcomtriportreat for a chance to win a prize!  For more information click the links below:

Ring of Fire and Hope

December 31st, 2020

The annual Birch Bay Ring of Fire & Hope takes place each December 31st at 7pm. Everyone heads down to the shoreline, lights a biodegradable road flare and places it near the water. With people all around the bay participating, the effect is beautiful and the entire bay looks like a string of red Christmas lights from end to end.

The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce will have a limited number of flares to hand out for New Year’s Eve, 2020. We will be available at the Birch Bay Visitor Center to hand them out starting at 9am on New Years Eve until they are gone. Remember – Only 1 per family.

We ask that you wear a mask, and socially distance from others when you pick up your flare and when participating in the Ring of Fire & Hope Event.

Click the link to the right for a list of local businesses to purchase flares if your family requires more than one, or you want to guarantee you get one.

Please send us your photos and videos of the 2020 Ring of Fire & Hope. We love to share them on our Social Media and on our website. Please email
