Every 4th of July, thousands of people flock to Birch Bay for a weekend of fireworks and fun. During the day, they explore our beautiful beaches and local attractions – by nightfall the sky comes alive with dazzling, non-stop fireworks. Many say it is the most spectacular 4th of July celebrations they’ve ever seen!

But while this celebration isn’t something we organize – it just happens to our community – the mess left behind is very real.

 

in 2024, volunteers collected over 5.32 tons (10,640 lbs!) of trash from our shoreline. We need your help to do it again!

 

* Bag debris along the beach

* Move it to the roadside (near the white line) for collection

 Whatcom County Sheriff’s Crew will take it from there and haul it to the dumpster.

 

Our partners with BBWARM; Whatcom Conservation District; Whatcom County Health and Community Services; Whatcom County Public Works & Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association will provide:

Supplies: globes, bags, tools, grabbers etc.

Refreshments: 9 AM – 12 PM
